Centuries before the white settlers came to this area, Natives were protectors of the land. The Crow, Shoshone, and Blackfoot tribes were the main people who lived here. Each Native tribe has a distinct history and culture, often fighting and competing with each other. There are many differences in languages and social hierarchy between different tribes.
